Convert a Tajima DST embroidery file to Brother PES right in your browser – free, with no upload and no signup. Drop your .dst file into the converter below, preview the stitch-out, check the stitch count and exact size in millimetres and inches, then download the .pes file.
How to convert a DST file to PES
- Drop your .dst file onto the preview, or click “Open DST File”. You can also try the built-in demo flower first.
- Check the preview: see the stitch-out, stitch count, colour changes and exact size in mm and inches – before you download anything.
- Click “Download .pes”. The file is converted on your own device – it is never uploaded to any server, and there is no signup.
What is preserved – and what is not
Every stitch position, every jump, every colour change and the exact design size carry over from the DST into the PES file. A few extra tie stitches are added where the thread jumps or changes colour – that is normal for PES files and locks the thread in place.
One thing a DST file simply does not contain is thread colours. A DST only records the order in which colours change, so the converter fills each block with a generic Brother palette colour in that order. The converted file will sew correctly, but open it in your embroidery software and set the real thread colours before you sew it out.

Frequently asked questions
Does the converted PES keep my thread colours?
No. DST files do not store thread colours – only the order of colour changes – so the converted PES uses generic Brother palette colours, one per colour block. Open the PES in your embroidery software and set the real thread colours before sewing.
Is it really free? Do I need to sign up?
Yes, it is free, and there is no signup and no account. The conversion happens entirely in your browser, so your file is never uploaded, stored or shared.
Which machines use PES files?
PES is the embroidery format for Brother and Baby Lock embroidery machines, and it opens in Brother PE-Design and other embroidery software. If your machine reads PES, this converter gives you a file it can sew.
What should I do before sewing a converted file?
Open the converted PES in your embroidery software first, check the size against your hoop, and set the real thread colours. Then test-sew it on scrap fabric before stitching the final item.
